About this event

What’s Sweatworking Week?

aSweatLife is hosting its signature event - Sweatworking Week, which is a celebration of trying new fitness classes and meeting new friends all across Chicago and nationwide - it’s like the restaurant week for fitness. The theme of this year’s Sweatworking week is Sweatworking week PLUS! Fitness class plus something extra special at each event. PLUS in our signature style we will be perking you out with all the brand goodies. The summer celebration of fitness, friendship and fun you will not want to miss!

What’s happening during Sweatworking Week?

You’ll find us taking on workouts across the city of Chicago - in the morning and evening - closing out the week with a self-care crawl in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. You will also see us outside of Chicago as our community leads create unique Sweatworking pop ups at their local studios.

What can I expect from this event?

Join us for a fitness event in the vibrant Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago! We're teaming up with the Tortugas Run Club, an inclusive and welcoming community of runners, to bring you an evening filled with art, fitness, friendship, and food.

We'll kick off the event with a tour of the National Museum of Mexican Art, exploring the rich cultural heritage of Mexico and its influence on the art scene in Chicago. Then, we'll hit the pavement with the Tortugas Running Club for a fun run/walk through the colorful streets of Pilsen.

On the run, we'll take a  tour of the iconic murals in Chicago's historic Pilsen neighborhood with Pilsen Public Art Tours. The tour will cover; a brief history of the neighborhood, the different waves of murals (i.e. social and political)murals, the graffiti movement, and logo art), the purposes of murals, and their varying styles and techniques.

And of course, no fitness event in Pilsen would be complete without some delicious local food. We'll be stopping at some of the neighborhood's best spots for a post-run bite and a chance to connect with fellow running enthusiasts.

Plus you will walk away from all of our fitness events with handfuls of wellness focused brand goodies!

Tell me more about Tortugas Running Club:

Tortugas Run Club was just an idea that Founder David Ruiz was sitting on for 2 years. It finally came to life when he was heartbroken from a ghosting situation. Instead of sitting there sad, he took a step back and thought about when he was my happiest self. My happiest self was when he was running, so he said “ok time to start this club”. It started off with just a couple of people for a few months and then all of a sudden it grew into what it is today - Family, Friends, Culture, and Support FIRST! The run comes after.

Tell me more about National Museum of Mexican Art:

The National Museum of Mexican Art stands out as the most prominent first-voice institutions for Mexican art and culture in the United States. Home to one of the country’s largest Mexican art collections, including more than 18,000 seminal pieces from ancient Mexico to the present.

As the first Latino museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum recognizes their unique responsibility to present exhibitions of artistic and cultural value and to deliver high-quality education that demonstrates the breadth and depth of Mexican art, culture and history.
